Emulation
All the HP printers use the PCL standard to control the output to the printed page. The comparative standard for the IBM mainframe and AS/400-iSeries environment is called AFP/IPDS. By adding the Blue Kit™ IPDS Solution, IBM IPDS emulation is added to the HP LaserJet printer without having to change the existing LAN interface.
The Fontware DataSTORM print Appliance is a unique turnkey multiport print datastream manipulation gateway that acts like a print server and network bridge. It is possible to modify and add logical functions including search and replace, triggers, variables and reprint, to produce user defined output on a per queue/printer basis. Forms, macros and fonts can be stored within the device and manipulated on individual page.
ELP installed on VMS, Solaris, AIX, Linux, Unix, Tru64 or AS/400 operates as a filter and on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008 (32 Bit and 64Bit, Cluster server and Terminal server is available as well) as a print processor. It's also compatible with the BETA Versions of Windows 7 and 2008R2! This guarantees that ELP does not need any system resources in idle mode. The following graphic gives an overview illustrating the most important functions such as controlling print functions (non carbon copies, tray pulling, electronic forms, bar codes and much more), distributed printing (e.g. using email PDF attachment), archiving and accounting.
