Everyone knows about barcodes but do we use them to full effect? I’m currently working on my first barcode project with Fontware which will be using a 2D Datamatrix code for line items on packing documents.

Planet Press is ideal for this application because we can grab a field in the original PDF from the client’s application and without any changes present this as a barcode for the guys in despatch to automate the process checking off the items before packing.
Simply Right Click with the mouse and drag the selection onto the design window, select the barcode type and we are ready to go.

Moving forward I can see the use of QR Codes growing rapidly, folks have them on business cards and then you can use your smartphone to import the contact details.
