OCR & MICR Fonts

Overview

OCR fonts are used for Optical Charater Recognition

OCR Optical character recognition fonts include OCR-A and OCR-B. OCR-B was designed by Adrian Frutiger and in addition to being machine readable, it is also very visually pleasing and may be used for non-automated applications.

MICR Magnetic Ink Character Recognition is generally used in banking because magnetic ink produces the most reliable reading. E-13B was the first magnetic font produced for automatic banking, and can usually be found at the bottom of cheques for encoding account information.
